Both the cities of Lugano and Locarno are based in the canton of Ticino, which is also the Italian part of Switzerland. This part of Switzerland has the largest Italian speaking majority outside of Italy. The canton is directly bordering northern Italy.
The cities are beautifully located on the Lake Lugano and in case of Locarno on the Lago Maggiore, surrounded by mountains.

This video showcases the main landmarks of the cities and the surrounding mountains.
